More is More For Lanvin Spring 2010!

Fashion powerhouse Lanvin did it big during Paris Fashion Week for their Spring 2010 show! They have never been ones to shy away from adding a little bling to their line, but this year they really went all out! Not only were many of model’s costumes dripping in glitter and sequins (we are loving the one shoulder and tulip-skirt wrap dresses), but they were then adorned with long super sized chains, pendants with an old-world accent, and chunky collar necklaces that added orange and turquoise hues to the neutral toned ensembles. The end result are jaw-dropping looks that literally “lit” up the runway!

The following pieces are super drool worthy, the epitome of glitz and glamour!

The following looks form Lanvin are a little more toned down, where the jewelry is displayed as more of a statement  piece (versus the above photos where the accessories are utilized to compliment to the whole outfit). Enjoy!

Wearable Art… LITTERally!

littersf

We absolutely adore Littersf.com! They make some of the most unique costume jewelry we have ever seen; mainly because they pushed the envelope by choosing to embellish the most unexpected parts of the body. On a recent interview by Anthem Magazine (posted on their blog), this sister duo (like us ;))-Mckenzie and Rachael- began their journey by blogging about fashion; but then-being inspired by Nicole Richie’s head pieces-they decided to try making their own.  They began making their jewelry by collecting objects like nuts and bolts, and random finds from The Goodwill and flea markets… hence the name “Litter”. Talk about one woman’s trash being another woman’s treasure!! Sheesh!!! They got so much attention when going out with their jewelry that it would sell out immediately. The interview mentioned that the Litter sisters never saw themselves as jewelry designers, but we’re glad they fooled around with it because their stuff is amazing!

This is their reversible “Chainmail Perfection“… ohhh the possibilities!

Who would have thought to put chains on your shoulder! This is the Golden Goddess Shoulder Piece-can’t help but to have people take notice of you in this…shoulder piece

This is their “Chain Chain Chain Ring.”

What better way to double your shoe-drobe than to add the “Walk the Plank” accessory like this to change things up 🙂walk the plank

Headresses… it’s what first got them started so you know their collection is eclectic! This is the “Connection” head piece that connects from your head to your ear. Gotta love their originality!connection

Tribal Inspiration-India and Pakistan!!!

Traveling around the world collecting jewelry from Africa, Asia, the Mediterranean, and other culturally distinct areas is a *bling* lover’s dream!  One can only imagine the inspiration that would ensue by grazing the bazaars and open marketplaces to shop where the art of jewelry making had it’s roots. African and Indian tribes were the first to shape and mold metal to form some of the most beautiful architectural pieces that defined them.

We sure WISH we had the freedom to travel halfway around the world to collect peices, but for now we stumbled upon a great website featuring tribal jewelry from India and Pakistan. Below are some of our favorite looks from http://www.tribalbazaar.com/

The pieces below are just of few that I found that designers are now modernizing for the runway!!

Featured below is Slave Bracelet 104, described on the website as a “slave Bracelet design that features applied metal designs on an adjustable cuff. Attached to the cuff is a linked metal chain with finger rings and features small Lapis stone pendants. There are also small bells for sound.”

I can see myself wearing this with a simple dress to let the bracelet do all the talking!

Ankle bracelet!? The first thing to come to your mind is probably something a child would wear, but then I thought about how cute it would look  hanging over some black pumps, accompanied by a leather skirt and a boyfriend Tee. For a more modernized take, Littersf.com has reinvented the anklet as a way to accessorize your shoes!

I love all the details in this Indian necklace!

These earrings are from the Turkmen Tribe located in central Asia. Their pieces are very classy and simple, but detailed in its design!

Nicole Richie wasn’t the first to wear a headdress; she just simplified and modernized the traditional headdresses that Indian and African tribes adorned.
